Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation, Inc.

Mission Statement

Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation, Inc., secures and administers charitable gifts and investments to support and enhance the mission of Baptist Homes of Indiana, Inc.

Our Founding

Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation Inc. logoBaptist Homes of Indiana Foundation, Inc., was established in 1986 to assure the continuation of the mission of caring and quality service for current and future residents of the retirement communities of Baptist Homes of Indiana, Inc. Baptist Homes owns and operates three continuing care retirement communities in Indiana: Hoosier Village in Indianapolis, The Towne House in Fort Wayne, and Four Seasons in Columbus.

Our Purpose

ribbon cutting ceremonyBaptist Homes of Indiana Foundation is an avenue by which charitable gifts and investments may be made to support and share in the continuation of the Baptist Homes of Indiana tradition and the fulfillment of its mission. Some opportunities for participation provide for additional income to the donor and the donor’s heirs. By providing such opportunities, it is hoped both the Baptist Homes residents and donors can benefit from the foundation program.

Funds provided through the foundation are to be utilized at the three Baptist Homes retirement communities to help fund improvements such as renovations, expansions, and equipment purchases; to assist residents who have exhausted their personal financial resources; to provide funds for employee education and training; and to provide additional benefits for the Baptist Homes communities as determined by the foundation’s board of directors.

Funding the Foundation

transportation vehiclesParticipation in the foundation may occur in a variety of ways. Much depends on the specific intent of the participant, the participant’s need for current income, and the long-range effect on the participant’s estate. The foundation’s desire is to provide a service to donors as they in turn assist current and future residents of the Baptist Homes of Indiana retirement communities.

All individuals interested in maintaining the standard of living and quality of life of residents of Baptist Homes of Indiana far into the future are encouraged to participate in the foundation. It is our hope that you will see that participation in the foundation is not only an opportunity to assist with the long-term future of Baptist Homes of Indiana, but also as a means by which you can assist yourself financially or make better provisions for your heirs.

Opportunities for giving to the foundation include:

Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity is a contractual agreement between a donor and Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation whereby the foundation agrees to pay a fixed annual income for life in exchange for money or assets transferred to the foundation. The amount of the annuity (annual income) is determined by the amount of the gift and the age or life expectancy of the person(s) who is to receive the annual income.

Charitable Remainder and Lead Trusts
A charitable remainder trust is a trust in which the remainder - whatever assets remain after all other terms and conditions have been fulfilled - are transmitted to a qualified nonprofit, charitable organization like Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation.

A charitable lead trust is a trust which provides an income stream to a charity after which the trustee returns the remainder to whomever the donor designates, usually one's heirs. It is, therefore, the reverse of a charitable remainder trust. It can be very useful to provide a gift and at the same time conserve assets for one's heirs at substantially reduced gift taxes.

Life Insurance
A gift of a life insurance policy, with Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation named as the owner and beneficiary of the policy, is an appealing way to make an outright charitable gift. It acknowledges your commitment now, permits a much larger gift than could otherwise be made currently, and is made from assets that will not affect your level of income.

Bequests
A last will and testament is a legal document whereby an individual who owns property of any sort exercises his or her right to determine the ultimate disposition of that property. A bequest is a specific provision whereby an individual or organization, such as Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation, is designated to receive the property that the person making the will transfers at death.

Tribute Fund
The Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation "Tribute Fund" is a thoughtful way to memorialize a loved one or to honor your relative or friend's birthday, anniversary, or any other special occasion. Contributions to the Tribute Fund are tax deductible as allowed by law. Individuals and families will be notified of your gift to the foundation Tribute Fund in their honor or in memory of their loved one.

Baptist Homes of Indiana Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)3 organization whose board of directors is independent from the board of Baptist Homes of Indiana, Inc. All gifts made to the foundation are tax deductible in accordance with the tax laws of the United States of America and the State of Indiana.
